Pros and Cons

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS

Pros and cons

  • Extreme and class-leading 24-1200mm (35mm equiv.) zoom

  • Great image quality - even at full zoom (1200 mm equiv.)

  • Well working image stabilisation (is much needed on this one)

  • Full manual control

  • Optional choice of saving in RAW

  • 13 fps burst mode

  • Noise levels at high ISO disapoints

  • A larger sensor (just a bit) would have made this a killer (though at the cost of zoom)

  • Some performance problems (e.g. sluggish shutter speed)

  • Maximum aperture a bit slower than its predessesor (SX40: F2.7-F5.8, SX50: F3.4-F6.5)
